Abstract: | Around the world, water pollution because of the generation of pollutants from the agriculture, industries, and domestic sectors has become one of the major issues in many developing countries. The contaminated water comprises noxious contaminants that are carcinogenic to living organisms, damage aquatic ecosystems, and have several other environmental effects. The complexity and non-biodegradability nature of the contaminants increase the vulnerability of the contaminants to the environment. Among the few contaminations, heavy metals and dyes are viewed as genuine risks all through the world. Industrial effluents, dumpsites, sewage removal, and anthropogenic cycles are the major sources of water contamination. Various metal particles, for example, chromium, zinc, lead, nickel, cadmium, mercury, copper, and arsenic are artificially moving into the water streams and make unfriendly impacts on the environment. Industries such as dairy, sugar plants, electroplating, paper factories, automobiles, fertilizer, mining, refineries, colouring, printing, metallurgy, textile, and so on, deliver poisons that are very destructive to individuals and the environment. newlineOut of various conventional wastewater treatment techniques, adsorption is found to be one of the most promising, less time-consuming, eco-friendly, and efficient methods for removing toxic contaminants. Prodigiously several eco-friendly and thrifty natural adsorbents such as Biochar, activated carbon, Functional polymers, Nanocomposites, and chitosan are regularly used in the sequestration of pollutants from the aqueous solution. newline newline |
