dc.description.abstract | In the recent years, a lot of efforts are being invested in identifying newlinealternative and greener fuel substitutes and additives for direct ignition diesel newlineengines. Also, there has been a drastic increase in use of direct ignition engines newlinein automobile, heavy engineering, aerospace and agricultural sectors. Direct newlineignition engines have been given more priority than other engines due to its newlineenhanced thermal efficiency and better fuel economy. newlineIn this research, an attempt was made to reduce diesel consumption, newlinewithout much compromise in engine performance by adding biogas prepared newlinefrom Sago Sludge Treated Poultry Waste (SSTPW). For enhancing the newlineefficiency during engine combustion, tyre pyrolysis oil was added to the newlinebiogas-diesel blend. For reducing emissions in sago sludge treated poultry newlinewaste biogas blended diesel fueled engine combustion CeO2 nanoparticles were newlineadded with the biogas-diesel blend. For conducting experiments, an engine newlinesetup with 661 cc Kirloskar make diesel engine was used. It was a four-stroke newlineengine with one cylinder. The significant combustion parameters that directly newlineaffect the combustion characteristics of the diesel engine such as the brake newlinepower of the engine, brake thermal efficiency with the fluctuations in specific newlinefuel consumption rate were studied. By evaluating the emissions, using exhaust newlinegas analysis techniques, the percentage of Nitrous Oxide, carbon dioxide, newlinecarbon monoxide present in the exhaust fumes were studied. newline | |
