Abstract

The idiom Seeing is believing can no longer hold true. In our daily life, we see things which newlineare not always what we think they usually like. Objects can be easily either inserted or newlineremoved. Digital media can be easily manipulated due to the advancement of the image newlineprocessing techniques. Distinguishing between the original and manipulated image is now a newlinemajor issue. A scheme is required to check the integrity of the digital multimedia. Another newlineissue is efficient indexing and retrieval for multimedia data. Traditional indexing methods are newlinetime consuming and inefficient. Huge amount of data are generated by the users due to the newlinegrowth of the Internet which leads to storing and transmission of large volume of digital data. newlineA scheme is required to manage large database, provide copyright protection, verification of newlinedata integrity and authentication. A perceptual hashing function is an effective solution to newlineprovide protection, integrity and authentication.
