Abstract: There has been growing interest in aluminum composites incorporated with low-density, costeffective reinforcements. Prominent among such reinforcements, is bamboo leaf ash (BLA) newlinemade of agro waste, and available in large quantities in North-East India. The present research newlineconsisted of fabricating aluminum metal matrix composites (AMMCs) by incorporating BLA newlineinto Al-4.5%Cu matrix alloy; and aluminum hybrid metal matrix composites (AHMMCs) by newlinereinforcing with (SiC+BLA) and (SiC+MoS2) through stir-casting. AMMCs reinforced with 2, 4 newlineand 6 wt% BLA were fabricated both by conventional stir-casting and by compo-casting (semisolid). Two types of AHMMCs were fabricated by compo-casting: those reinforced at constant newline10 wt.% of SiC and, at 2 and 4 wt.% BLA, and those reinforced at constant 10 wt.% of SiC and, newlineat 2 and 4 wt.% of MoS2. newline newline
