Abstract

The thesis reports the single crystal X ray analysis and docking newlinestudies of some pyrroloquinoline and pyrrolopyran compounds A review on newlinethe biological properties of the above compounds is presented in Chapter 1 A newlinebrief summary of the steps involved in the X ray crystal structure newlinedetermination is given in Chapter 2 newlineChapter 3 describes the crystal and molecular structures of 7 newlineChloro 3 ethyl 9 9 dimethyl 2 tosyl 2 3 3a 4 9 9a hexahydro 1H pyrrolo 3 4 newlineB quinoline hexahydro newline1H pyrrolo quinoline EPTPQ and its 7 chloro CEPTPQ and 7 newlinebromo BEPTPQ analogues In all the above molecules the newlinetetrahydropyridine ring adopts a half chair conformation In EPTPQ the newlinepyrrolidine ring adopts an envelope conformation, while in other structures it newlineis in a twist conformation In EPTPQ and CEDTPQ the molecules are linked newlineinto a two dimensional network parallel to the ab plane by N H O newlinehydrogen bonds and weak C H O intermolecular interactions In newlineCEPTPQ and BEPTPQ the screw related molecules are linked into chains newlinealong the b axis by N H O hydrogen bonds newline newline
