Abstract: | This Chapter of the thesis takes detail accounts of the study area, geological information, uranium mining industry and natural background radiation. NORM and TNORM are briefly described in this chapter. The element polonium and its radiochemistry are discussed here. Mining and processing of uranium ore and generation of radioactive waste have been given here. The objectives of the present studies along with their importance and prospects are highlighted in this chapter. This chapter is also deals with literature reviews and a brief account of work carried out by different researchers. newline |
