Abstract: Exposure of pregnant women to ambient air pollution in both open and closed newlineenvironments has an adverse effect on the early development of the fetus, leading to newlinevarious health hazards, preterm birth and premature deaths. Previous research has newlinelinked exposure to traffic fumes and air pollution to higher odds of infertility as well as newlinean increased risk of giving birth to underweight and premature babies. The prenatal newlineexposure to ambient air pollution having widely distributed contaminant PAHs, like newlineBenzo[a]pyrene has not been yet studied comprehensively. Hence, the present crosssectional study was conducted to know the effects of air pollution during pregnancy and newlinethe impact of these pollutants on the growth and development of the fetus. The newlineestimated levels of most frequently studied air pollutants like sulphur dioxide (SO2), newlinenitrogen dioxide (NO2), particulate matter (PM) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons newline(PAHs) are taken from the reports of The Odisha State Pollution Control Board newline(OSPBC), Bhubaneswar. In the present study 373 women volunteer participants with newlinenormal pregnancy were taken from different study sites selected to represent the range newlineof exposure newline
