Abstract: The thesis entitled SYNTHESIS OF CHROMENE BASED SPIROCYCLIC MOLECULES AND (Z/E)-2-PHENYL/H-3-STYRYL-2H-CHROMENE DERIVATIVES has been divided into four chapters and each chapter subdivided into following sections: introduction, literature review, present work, experimental, spectroscopic data, biological study and references. Chapter I describes design and synthesis of (Z/E)-2-phenyl/H-3-styryl-2H-chromene derivatives as antimicrotubule agents. Chapter II describes diastereoselective synthesis of novel spiro indanone fused pyrano[3,2-c]chromene derivatives following hetero-Diels-Alder reaction and in vitro anticancer studies. Chapter III describes with one-pot, three-component regio- and sterospecific synthesis of spiro indanone pyrrolidine/piperidine fused nitrochromene derivatives through 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions and chapter IV describes base mediated green synthesis of enantiopure 2-C-spiro-glycosyl-3-nitrochromenes. newline. newline
