Abstract: The earthing system should be designed to limit the impulse impedance and transient newlinevoltage so that the ground potential rise is kept within safe values. The design of electrodes newlinein the earthing system is critical to achieving the lowest impedance for satisfactory transient newlineperformance. Since the simple earth electrodes alone may not provide a low impedance newlinebeyond the effective length, the enhanced grounding electrode configurations are designed. newlineIn this research work, an enhanced electrode configuration of low impulse impedance is newlinearrived at using an optimized impedance reduction approach. newline
