Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineIn this thesis, I discuss the basic postulates of the Bhagavadgita along with its study newlineand interpretation upon selected texts of Patrick White s Voss, William Golding s Darkness newlineVisible, Arun Joshi s The Last Labyrinth and Saul Bellow s Herzog. The thesis aims to newlineinterpret the art of applying righteousness, discipline and emotional regulation in practical newlinelife as discussed in the Bhagavadgita by following three-fold paths of knowledge (Jnana newlineyoga), action (Karma yoga) and devotion (Bhakti yoga). Thesis studies in detail the newlineBhagavadgita s Jnana, Karma and Bhakti Yoga with the help of the comparative study of newlineIndian and Western philosophers. It also provides textual evidence from the Bhagavadgita newlineand selected texts to support reading of its philosophical tenets. The thesis discusses the newlineinterpretative, evaluative and academic implications of the Philosophy of the Bhagavadgita. newlineThe Bhagavadgita being unique among all the texts examines the nature and cause of human newlinesuffering concerning the real-life situation. Therefore it is due to the suffering, complexities newlineand disorder of modern times that this thesis introduces intuitive knowledge and newlinerighteousness as the practical solution to the modern-day problems by re-visiting the Indian newlinePhilosophy discoursed in the Bhagavadgita. newlineKeywords: newlineYoga of action, Yoga of knowledge, Yoga of devotion, The Bhagavad Gita, Indian newlineEpistemology. newline newline
