Leather, because of its potential for employment generation, it is considered one of the important sectors contributing to the inclusive growth of several countries globally. In India, about 4 million people are employed in the leather industries. The generation of tannery solid waste has augmented dramatically due to rapid industrial growth and enhanced economic activities over the past few decades. A variety of wastes such as raw trimmings, fleshing, hair waste, chrome shaving, buffing dust, and finished scrapes newlineemanate from the tanning industries while transforming the hide/skin into leather. Of those, raw trimmings are one of the most valuable solid wastes generated from the first unit operation, removing unwanted portions (head, shank, tail) to facilitate mechanical operation in leather manufacture. However, this solid waste is either dumped or utilized as low-value products like adhesive, protein filler, and boiler feed in the present scenario. Raw hide/skin trimmings contain valuable material such as collagen and eratin, which can be recovered and targeted for high-value utilization. This thesis newlinework targets in demonstration of the scope for high-value products utilization from raw trimmngs waste. newline newline
