Abstract: | The development of piezoelectric based sensors has attracted newlineworldwide attention and is noted as an emerging key technology in global newlineeconomic, scientific and technological progress. Research investigations on newlinethe piezoelectric based sensor have developed very rapidly and have become a newlineresearch hotspot for several applications such as in industry, national defence, newlineagriculture, aerospace, family services, transportation etc. Piezoelectric based newlinevibration sensor is one such application that is used widely in many areas like newlinein flexible devices, structural health monitoring systems, seismic exploration, newlineand biomedical products. The third-generation semiconducting materials have newlineseveral advantages and hence is used in the fabrication of nanogenerators, newlinememory (data storage) applications, gas sensors and vibration sensors. newlineAmong various semiconducting materials, Zinc Oxide (ZnO) has unique newlineadvantages such as a direct wide bandgap of 3.34 eV, high exaction binding newlineenergy of 60 meV, piezoelectric, bio-friendly, non-toxic and easily newlinesynthesizable properties. These desirable properties make ZnO semiconductor newlinea potential candidate for electronics and optoelectronics applications which newlinecan be commercialized owing to its excellent electrical and optical properties. newlineOngoing research activities on novel piezoelectric based ZnO nanostructures newlineof different morphologies ranging from nanobelts, nanorods, nanowalls, newlinenanoflowers and nano springs have been reported to have versatile properties newlinefor target applications newline |
