A structural member composed of two or more dissimilar materials newlinejoined together to behave structurally as a single unit is called as Composite newlineStructure. Joining of two dissimilar materials to form a composite member newlinedoes not only combine the collective strengths of the two materials forming a newlineunion between relevant materials but also enhances their physical newlinecharacteristics and makes the composite stronger than the sum of their newlinestrengths. Composite structures have several advantages over traditional newlinereinforced concrete which incorporate high strength to weight ratios, newlinedimensional stability and structural integrity. newlineCreative innovation in construction industry together with the newlineadvancement of material properties and technologies enabled pursuit of the newlinehuman challenge to the height (buildings) and span (roofs and bridges) of the newlinestructural systems. Composite beam designs provide a significant economy newlinethrough reduced material, more slender floor depths and faster construction. newlineIn order to buildthe most economic and aesthetically pleasing newlinestructure, one should utilize the judicious combination of structural steel with newlinereinforced concrete. The practice is to utilize the strength possessed by them newlineand to suppress their weakness. Steel Concrete Composite (SCC) newlineconstruction, being one among the faster, economical and eco friendly newlinemethods has been extensively used in high rise buildings as well as in newlinemedium span bridge decks. The applications of composite members newlineconsisting of structural steel and reinforced concrete have become newlineincreasingly popular in Civil Engineering structures in recent years due to newlinetheir advantages over the conventional structural sections in terms of strength, newlineductility, energy absorption capacity, easy construction procedure and overall newlineeconomy. newline
