Abstract: | Because of the shortcomings of medical imaging equipment and the lighting conditions in which they are taken, the color images acquired are often unsatisfactory in terms of color and contrast. Thermogram based breast cancer diagnosis is a noninvasive imaging modality in the field of medicine. Image enhancement for thermogram is a different technique of improving the visual quality of an image, and it is very essential in the fields of image processing and computer vision, among other things especially for medical thermal images. The main goal of this thesis is to support the physician in early diagnosis of breast tumors by improving the overall image quality using specific color correction and contrast enhancement techniques. Earlier researchers have proven that the breast thermogram has great potential for premature cancer detection and prognosis indication. Thus it is possible to save more number of lives from the life killing breast disease. The breast thermograms are functional images that reflect the infra red radiation from the human subject where it is the human breast. Because of the infra red radiation of the afflicted region of the tumors is higher than the temperature of the unaffected region in the human breast , the thermal imaging method may be utilized to capture breast images using a thermal infrared camera by determining the temperature gradient among them. The color correction and enhancement of the acquired mammary image is essential for accurate early cancer identification at this stage. newline |
