dc.description.abstract | The present study was undertaken with an aim to examine the newlineantioxidant, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic activities and also newlinethe in silico, in vitro anticancer activities of the different solvent extracts of an newlineethno-medicinally important plant Cassia auriculata Linn. The hexane, newlinedicholoro methane (DCM), ethylacetate and ethanol extracts of the plant were newlinescreened for the presence of total phenolic and flavonoid content, qualitative newlineand quantitative phytochemical analysis through chromatographic and newlinespectroscopic studies. From this the most effective extracts were identified newlineand it was subjected to various in silico and in vitro anticancer studies. Since newlineplant derived natural compounds are considered as good drug candidates for newlineanticancer therapy, an effort was made to predict the interaction of GC-MS newline(Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) derived bioactive compounds of newlineCassia auriculata ethanol extract with target protein, AKT1/PKB newline(Serine/Threonine-Protein Kinase B), responsible for the development and newlineprogression of lung cancer using auto dock tools through molecular docking newlinestudies. Extensive studies have been carried out on a range of kinase newlineinhibitors targeting Akt but obtaining promising results is a challenge yet due newlineto its toxicity and resistance issues. Based on the results, yohimbine, newlineundecanoic acid 10-methyl- ethyl ester and chrysin significantly binds to the newlinetarget protein with least binding energy. Hence, the present study establishes newlinethe anticancer capacities of C. auriculata ethanol extract as an alternative to newlineexisting therapeutic approach to inflammation and cancer through a newlinesystematic in vitro and in silico approach supplementing the findings. newline | |
