The rapid development of alternative energy sources for electric newlinepower generation plays an important role in rural electrification and urban newlineindustrial programs. Power generation utilizing wind energy is currently newlinegaining attention as it has the lowest risk, with proven technology and there newlineare no greenhouse gas emissions. According to the world wind energy market newlinereport, the production of small wind turbines remains concentrated in a few newlineworld regions: in China, in North America, and several European countries. newlineDeveloping countries continue to play a minor role in small wind turbines newlinemanufacturing. In the past couple of years, the global market for the small newlinewind was slow and it is forecasted that a minimum of 12% of the growth will newlineincrease in upcoming years. By the year 2020, the small wind industries are newlineprojected to increase 270MW additionally by newly installed capacity and newlinewith combined existing resources it will reach 1.9GW approximately. newlineDomestic and battery charging applications utilize small wind newlineturbine systems with a capacity range of fifty watts to ten kilowatts. There are newlinetwo types of generators in practice; they are generators with gearbox and newlinedirect driven generators. To reduce the drive train cost and losses associated newlinewith energy conversion direct driven systems are preferred than geared newlinesystems. The generators for direct driven small wind turbines usually are newlinepermanent magnet generators. newlineRenewable forms of energy are abundant in India, among them newline
