dc.description.abstract | In transportation, a significant role is played by internal combustion engines. So there is an urgent need to find alternative fuels since emissions from combustion cause air pollution and magnify global warming. An alternative solution for the dependency on fossil fuels is harvesting energy from renewable sources like solar energy, wind energy, and biomass. In the replacement of fossil fuels in transportation, a significant role is played by biofuels like biodiesel, bioethanol, biogas, and bio hydrogen. newlineUsually, for diesel engines, vegetable oils are not considered as a fuel source. It is because of its viscosity factor, free fatty acids, and fatty acid levels in the oil. To ease this, the transesterification was explored since the 19th century, and it has got some fascinating facts like prominent, portable, proceeds better in the involvement of catalyst and reaction was done by non catalyst process. Hence, one of the most economical ways to achieve higher biodiesel yield in the 21st century, the researchers are focused on lipase based Transesterification process. Recently the biodiesel which was extracted by using lipase catalyst in the trans-esterification process is Garcinia gummi-gutta (94% yield), waste cooking oil (94.7% yield), soya bean oil (84.9% yield), Burkholderia. Sp (70% yield) followed by Pichia pastoris (82% yield). newline | |
