dc.description.abstractThis thesis entitled A STUDY ON DYNAMICAL AND PHYSICAL BEHAVIOURS OF SOME COSMOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS comprises of six newlinechapters and is devoted to the study of the dynamical, physical and geometrical behaviours of some cosmological models in alternative and modified newlinetheories of gravitation. Accelerated expansion of the Universe which is consistent with the recent observational data (Reiss et al. 1998; Perlmutter et newlineal. 1999) have been investigated and studied in the framework of alternative newlinetheories of gravity like f(R, T) theory (Harko et al. 2011), where R is Ricci newlinescalar and T is trace of the energy momentum tensor, S´aez-Ballester theory newline(S´aez and Ballester, 1986) and Modified Chaplygin Gas cosmology. newlineChapter 1 is introductory in nature in which a brief survey of General newlineTheory of Relativity (GTR) formulated by Albert Einstein have been presented. It also presents how the GTR have been successful in overcoming the newlineshortcomings of the Newton s law of universal gravitation and Special Theory newlineof Relativity (STR). Further a brief review of Friedmann-Robertson-Walker newline(FRW) metric and Kaluza-Klein metric and subsequently a brief introduction on alternative theories of gravity like S´aez-Ballester theory (S´aez and newlineBallester, 1986) and f(R, T) theory (Harko et al. 2011) are also presented. newlineThese are relevant and necessary to understand the work contained in the newlinesubsequent chapters of the thesis. The original research work of the author is newlinecovered in the following chapters. newline
