Abstract: | Electricity is the most versatile and widely used form of energy and newlineglobal demand is growing continuously. Most of today s generation newlinecapacity relies on fossil fuels and contributes significantly to the increase newlineof carbon dioxide in the world s atmosphere, with negative newlineconsequences for the climate and society in general. A micro- grid is newlinedefinitely needed to satisfy both the increasing demand for power and newlineneeded to reduce CO2 emissions in sustainable, reliable and economic newlineway. The micro- grid will make use of technologies that improve fault newlinedetection and allow self healing of the network without the invention of newlinetechnicians. The cluster of micro-grids is termed as composite micro newlinegrid. A micro-grid is a mini grid comprising of low voltage generators, newlinemostly renewable generators integrated with energy storage devices, newlineplug in electric vehicles and loads. The major power quality (PQ) issues newlineaddressed in micro-grids are voltage flicker, voltage sag, voltage newlineunbalance, harmonic pollution and frequency deviation. The main newlineobjective of this project is to modeling a novel power quality newlineconditioning device which automatically senses the power quality newlineproblems which prevails in smart micro -grid and initiates proper control newlineaction to mitigate the same without human intervention, thus imparting newlineself healing feature to micro-grid. So a power quality conditioning newlinevi newlinedevice is required for the mitigation of power quality problems. In this newlinework DVR (Dynamic voltage restorer) is taken as the power quality newlineconditioner. newlineThe proposed device, Intelligent Power Quality Conditioner (IPQC) newlinecan solve the major power quality problems associated with micro- grid newlinesuch as voltage swell, voltage sag, voltage unbalance and harmonic newlinepollution. In the DVR based IPQC, Genetic Algorithm based controller, newlineFuzzy logic based controller , |
