Abstract: | Pharmacoeconomic study is an emerging branch in health sciences and plays a vital role in clinical development of drugs It deals with the costs and outcomes of different health care interventions In our study 270 participants were recruited and divided into six atypical antipsychotic groups such as Olanzapine Clozapine Risperidone Quetiapine Aripirazole and Amisulpride Each participant was followed up for 12 visits after their baseline data was recorded All the observations were recorded every month for a period of one year and analyzed The models of pharmacoeconomic analysis the cost effectiveness and the cost utility models were taken into analysis The different parameters studied under these models were direct cost indirect cost CGI Improvement questionnaire and EQ 5D5L questionnaire The results of the cost effectiveness and cost utility models showed Clozapine to be most cost effective followed by the drug Olanzapine These drugs were also monitored for adverse drug reactions using different scales for severity predictability and preventability Two hundred and thirty adverse drug reactions were monitored and the maximum number of adverse drug reactions was seen with Olanzapine The prescription pattern using WHO core prescribing indicators were also studied The average number of drugs per encounter was 2 point 75 Drugs prescribed from an essential drug list were found to be 16 point 7 percent |
