Abstract: | Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSN) are an enabling technology that is becoming newlinein popularity for monitoring large expanses of oceans. UWSN are made up of a variety of newlinesensors that are deployed to monitor a certain area. Sensors and autonomous underwater newlinevehicles (AUV) work together to achieve this goal by self-organizing into a network that can newlineadapt to changing ocean conditions. As an emerging area of research, Underwater Wireless newlineSensor Networks have attracted rapidly growing interest in the last several years. UWSN newlineprovide continuous monitoring for various applications like disaster prevention, submarine newlinedetection, pollution monitoring, ocean sampling network, oceanographic data collection, newlineoffshore exploration and tactical surveillance applications etc. Many disasters that have taken newlineplace in the recent past have placed great emphasis on monitoring ocean climatic and newlineenvironmental conditions for scientific, environmental, military needs etc. In order to perform newlinethese monitoring tasks organizations are showing interest towards deploying sensor nodes newlineunder water.
