Abstract: | Nowadays, the non-linear load connection with the distribution network newlinehas caused people to worry about the increasingly serious power quality newlineproblem. Connecting a non-linear load will draw a non-sinusoidal current from newlinethe power line, resulting in a non-sinusoidal voltage. Deriving non-sinusoidal newlinecurrents from power lines can cause voltage harmonics and noise in the system. newlineThe harmonic current flowing through the power line will have an adverse effect newlineon the performance of protection relays, automation, security systems, control newlinesystems and medical equipment s. As a result, the quality of power supplied to newlinethe consumers has dropped to a low level. Declining power quality has become a newlinemajor concern of industrial users. The standards of the Institute of Electrical and newlineElectronics (IEEE) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) set newlinespecific rules and restrictions for power quality issues. The enduring power newlinequality degradation in the electrical power network has sparked major research newlineinterest in improving the quality of the power delivered to the customers. newlineNumerous solutions have been established in recent years to reduce the newlineeffect of voltage and current harmonics from non-linear loads. The solutions newlinecomprise the advancements of passive and active power filters to reduce current newlineand voltage distortions and impose of high frequency content. The size the newlinepassive filter components such as R, L and C are depends on the range of newlineharmonics to be compensated. Passive filters have the option of resonance, newlineinadequate fitness, dynamic parameter variations and high prices. Active power newlinefilters epitomize the topmost position in power electronics, they uses the modern newlinedigital signal processors and modern power semiconductor devices to newlinecompensate the power quality issues caused by the frequent failures and newlinenonlinear loads newline |
