Abstract: The electric drives are the most important parts of an industry to newlineautomate and accelerate the process. The necessity of the drives depends on the newlineload characteristics, application needs and available supply systems. In recent newlineyears Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) has captured a high position in newlinevariable speed drive in industries due to its robustness, fault tolerance capability, newlinetemperature tolerance and so on. The drawbacks of acoustic noise production, newlinevibrations, torque ripple and precise speed control are due to the absence of newlinewindings and permanent magnets in the rotor. newlineThe stator of SRM has excitation windings and rotor has relevant poles. newlineThe rotor poles are moved towards the minimum reluctance path offered by the newlinestator poles. The excitation is varied to operate the SRM at a wide speed range. newlineIt has the advantages of high torque to current ratio and low cost. The various newlinepower converter techniques are available to excite the stator poles having the newlinecommon drawback of torque ripple. When compared to other drives, it is newlinedifficult to control its speed due to the absence of winding. The alliance position newlineof the rotor is consecutively acquired from the rotor position sensor mounting newlineon the shaft. The performance of the SRM drive can be improved if the position newlinesensor is eliminated. newlineThe speculation of this research is a sensorless speed control of 6/4 pole newlineSRM drive based on Hybrid Observer Algorithm (HOA). A collaboration of newlinetwo sensorless control methods are employed. An observer based control and newlineintelligent based control are the two sensorless control methods. The current newlineand flux linkage are provided as inputs to the observer and the output is newlineconnected to the fuzzy controller. The Fuzzy-PID controller generates the pulses newlineto excite the phases based on reference speed. A nonlinear module of SRM is newlinesimulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK tool. In hardware newline
