An extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) was produced from newlineHalomonas variabilis (HV) and investigation of its metabolic behavior was newlinecarried out in a bio-reaction calorimeter (BioRC). EPS is a charged, natural newlinebiological derivative of the microbial community that generally comprises newlinecarbohydrates (mostly polysaccharides), proteins, and some biogenic newlineheterogeneous organic substances. The scope and objective of the research were to optimize the EPS production process conditions and medium components in shake flask experiments, to analyze the optimal conditions with response surface newlinemethodology (RSM), to enhance the yield in BioRC through optimization and newlineto monitor the metabolic behavior, oxygen transfer, turbidity condition, and newlinepH profile. A suitable extraction protocol was devised and the extracted EPS newlinewas characterized by prominent analytical techniques to identify the EPS newlinecharacteristics. Response surface methodology, central composite design, and newlineANOVA regression analysis were employed to analyze the interaction newlinebetween the variables considered for optimization. A second-order quadratic newlineequation was established to validate the optimum yield and interaction trend. newline newline
