Abstract: | The essence of industrial process control is a closed-loop control system consisting of a controller, plant or system and measuring device that measures and transmits the plant signal as feedback for an input signal to the controller for error diminution. The Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller is a traditional controller for industrial process control and plays an essential role in keeping the control variable at an ideal setpoint by comparing the actual response with predefined response of the system. In general, most of the real-time processes in industries are nonlinear. The PID controller has been extensively applied in process control applications in industries for more than four decades due to its robust control and reliability. The performance of the industrial process depends on the control performance of the controller and the accuracy of its tuning process. If the controller fails to render the appropriate action to the final control element then the response of the system is not in desirable operating condition. newlineThere are many research work has been carried out in this sector by both Indian and foreign researchers. The process control industries such as petroleum industry, Sugar industry, paper industry and automation based industries having complex control loops with a huge quantity of operating condition. These processes demands much more efficient control action for process control. The researchers have made several attempts for industrial process performance improvement by restructuring the control loop and implementing the new strategy for controller tuning methodology. A reinforced controller tuning method has developed for liquid level control, acidification process in the petroleum industry, crystallization process control in the sugar industry and various real-time processes newline |
