Abstract: Tissue engineering in general has gained its popularity as it has given a new dimension in the robust treatment of degenerative disease, which uses stem cells and 3D matrices that mimics the microenvironment of the extra cellular matrix, highly enabling effective tissue regeneration. Neural tissue engineering is a field of regenerative medicine that holds great potential in the treatment of progressive degeneration. This limited regeneration or complete absence of regeneration of the central and the peripheral nervous system makes it one of the most complicated conditions to treat. Before the inception of tissue engineering, surgery was the only treatment due to the limitation in self regeneration and the long lasting effect of the injury in the central or peripheral nervous system. newline
