Abstract: | The main objective of this research work is to develop a test stand newlinefor a centrifugal compressor. The compressor will be tested to study its newlineoverall performance, efficiency, pressure ratio and for generating a newlinecompressor map. As this type of test rig finds its place in defence and allied newlineestablishments, detailed design and critical information are not provided newlinethereby requiring reverse engineering and design from first principles. newlineTherefore, the present work presents the development of the rig with detailed newlinedesign of all subsystems and components. newlineA typical test stand consists of a centrifugal compressor driven by a newlinesuitable driving unit, necessary piping circuits, control valves, pressure, newlinetemperature and other sensors for measuring data and a suitable acquisition newlinesystem to convert the measured data and feed it to the software for newlinecalculation. The design of the above-mentioned subsystems together newlineconstitutes the entire system. newlineA brief explanation of the pre-requisites and an overview of many newlinesuch facilities around the world are presented. The various drawbacks of such newlinefacilities were identified. A combustor driven hot gas facility with associated newlinesubsystems were finalized for the test rig newline |
