Abstract: | Renewable biogas production technology is an excellent method for eradication of greenhouse gas emission and thereby reducing global warming. One of the best alternative technological developments for the conversion of waste into useful energy is anaerobic digestion to produce biogas. It is recognized as one among leading green energy to manage the environment and meet the current energy tasks to tackle globally. Generally, biogas can be utilized for cooking, heat and electricity generation. newlineA simple, rapid and ecofriendly procedure was adopted to synthesize iron nano-catalyst (FeNCs) using the leaf extracts of Acalypha indica. The effectiveness of synthesized AI-FeNCs was evaluated for the biogas production from Mixed Liquid Suspended Solids (MLSS). The AI-FeNCs were characterized using UV- Visible spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscope and X-Ray Diffractions. The catalytic activity of the synthesized additives of FeNCs during the anaerobic process showed drastic reduction in operation time of 6 days for biogas production of 85-90%. The study conducted with AI-FeNCs showed a significant increase in the total biogas production when MLSS was supplemented with 0.3 g/L FeNCs. The aforementioned additive yielded 0.345 (L/g volatile solids reduced) biogas which is relatively lesser (63%) when compared with the control 0.25 (L/g VS reduced) and their bulk salts 0.055 (L/g VS reduced). newline |
