Abstract: The present research A Study of Adolescent Adjustment and Scholastic Performance newlineof Secondary School Students and need for Social Work Intervention was conducted newlineto study the level of adjustment of secondary students and its relationship with scholastic newlineperformance. Around 389 adolescent, 167 male and 222 from 18 secondary co-education newlineMarathi medium schools located in Pune and adjacent rural areas participated in this study. newlineSix different measures viz Adjustment, Self Esteem, locus of control, personality traits, newlineParents involvement and scholastic performance were used to collect the data. Adjustment newlineInventory for School Students (AISS) by Sinha and Singh (2013), Internal-External Locus newlineof Control Scale by J. Rotters (1966) Rosenberg, M. (1965) Self Esteem scale and Big Five newlinefactor personality test (non clinical) was used to collect data. A questionnaire was newlinedeveloped to gatherpersonal information, data related to school environment and parental newlineinvolvement.For scholastic performance, annual exam percentage was collected. Collected newlinedata was analysed using Chi Square Tests, T test, F Test, Pearson s Product newlinemomentcorrelation which was done to study the difference and inter-relationship between newlinevariables. There are greater gender differences found in adjustment, Personality traits and newlinescholastic performance. Female students are better adjusted as compared male students. newlineStudents from government schools are having higher maladjustment and also having lower newlinescholastic performance. Rural students have shown higher scholastic performance. Female newlinestudents were found high on neuroticism. School counseling has not contributed in higher newlineadjustment, students who were exposed to life skills education shown greater adjustment. newlineStudents from private unaided schools have shown greater scholastic performance.
