Axial Compressive and Buckling Behavior of GGBS Concrete Infilled Light Gauge Steel Tubes

Abstract

Air pollution is harmful to human health. The quality of air is deteriorating continuously owing to pollution from different sources. The cement industry is one of the prime sources of air pollution. Cement production causes pollution to the environment. To minimize the usage of cement in concrete, the cement can be replaced partially with Ground Granulated Blast furnace Slag (GGBS). newlineConcrete Filled Steel Tubes (CFST) are composite members. They consist of steel tube infilled with concrete. The steel tube and concrete in CFST due to their composite action complement each other in getting rid of their weaknesses. Steel tube without infill buckles quickly even for the small application of the load whereas the concrete core alone is not capable of resisting buckling over a particular length of the column.
