Abstract: Humanity is facing major challenges that threatens the life and needs a global response. For example, pandemic issues by new types of life threatening viruses, warfare agents and plastics pollutants in seas and lands are the dangers which requires great attention. The sensing scheme based on plasmon based optical technology such as Raman spectroscopy is widely employed for detecting biochemical molecules such as proteins, nucleic acids and their building blocks. Raman spectroscopy suffers from the drawback of low intensity of the Raman signal. SERS overcomes the drawback of Raman spectroscopy by utilizing metal nanostructure that function as optical antenna to enhance the Raman signal. Research on SERS focuses on engineering the optical antenna to focus the light into subwavelength regions for enhancing the Raman signal by orders of magnitude newline
