Abstract

The design and synthesis of chemosensors for metal ions, anions, neutral molecules and small molecules detection have garnered a lot of interest. These all molecules are not only harmful but are useful and involve in various physiological activities. The disproportional concentration of metal ions, anions, neutral molecules are venomous in nature and can be perilous for the active biological system. Various sensors have been developed to detect metal ions, anions, neutral molecules and small molecules. However, chemosensors have been most effective attributable to their high sensitivity, selectivity, reusability, real-time applicability and unsophisticated instrumentation. newlineTransition metal ions, alkali metal ions, alkaline earth metal ions and other small molecules (such as amino acids) have adverse effects on a living system if accumulated in or above specific concentrations. These can introduce in the ecosystem due to industrialization, lack of sewage solid and water disposal, metal ions make way into the water bodies and living organisms. These metal ions keep accumulating through the food chain and find their way to the human body by biomagnification. Thus, it becomes highly essential to develop techniques that can detect the exact concentration of these metal ions, anions and small molecules in the environment and biological system. newline
