dc.description.abstractDiabetes is a major global epidemic, currently affecting approximately 451 million adults newlineworldwide, with its prevalence expected to increase to about 693 million adults by 2045 reported newlineby International Diabetes Federation (IDF) [1]. At present, nearly half a billion people live with newlinediabetes. Low and middle income countries carry almost 80% of the diabetes burden. newline IDF also mentions 1 in 2 that is 50% newlineof the diabetic patients remain undiagnosed. Type 2 Diabetes mellitus (T2D) {hereafter diabetes} newlineis rapidly emerging as a major threat to the global human health [2]. Diabetes is one of the newlinelargest global health emergencies of 21st century. Diabetes is among the top 10 causes of death newlineglobally and together with the other three major non-communicable diseases (NCD s) (i.e. newlinecardiovascular disease, cancer and respiratory disease) accounting for over 80% of all premature newlineNCD deaths. In 2015, 39.5 million of the 56.4 million deaths globally were due to a major newlinecontributor to the challenge of diabetes is that 30-80% of people were undiagnosed for diabetes newline
