Abstract: Advancements in the field of communication and multimedia has newlinedriven a direct increase in the consumption of digital content. Significant newlineadvancement in the field of fabrication of microprocessors has contributed to newlinethe increase in devices that are capable of processing and loading streams of newlinecompressed content that are transmitted over a network. newlineDespite the increase in local processing, in order to ensure efficient newlinedelivery and reachability Multimedia applications require high-speed newlinenetworks and a good scheduling algorithm to handle the various multimedia newlinetasks. Multimedia content comprises audio, video, text and graphics and newlinewould demand different requirements when compared to regular data. The newlineraw content before delivery has timing constraints and is usually large in size newlineand needs to be effectively compressed with minimal loss of quality. Thus, a newlinescheduling algorithm proposed for multimedia tasks has to be designed by newlinesatisfying these requirements. A scheduler manages the assignment of newlinemultimedia tasks that await the execution along with the timing constraints newlineand tasks should be prioritized on a system device or in a channel. newlineThe goal and focus here is to arrive at an optimized scheduling newlinealgorithm based on metaheuristic principles to schedule the tasks and achieve newlinethe expected optimisations in the expected criteria such as average waiting newlinetime, turnaround time and response time. A multimedia scheduler thus aims at newlinesatisfying the QoS conditions that are essential in terms of multimedia newlineapplications specially focussing on the timing constraints newline
