Abstract: The automobiles became as a part of our life and it has become prime importance for everybody in day-to-day life. The automobiles are used in moving from one place to other also used in various transportation of goods and other essentials. The stopping of vehicle or deceleration of vehicle is one of the key parameters of the automobile vehicle and is carried out with the help of brake material. The vehicle deceleration is done with the help of activating the mechanism which further helps in mating brake pad with mating surface. It is a mechanical member that converts one form of energy into other form (i.e. kinetic energy into heat energy) by means of friction. While carrying out this performance enormous amount of heat is released during braking conditions. One of the important parameters of the brake pad frictional composite material is to maintain good wear resistance, better fade and stable frictional values at higher temperatures. There are numerous researches done by using several ingredients but very few works related to commonly used ingredients in friction materials formulation. A marginal difference in formulation and structure affects the overall performance of brake friction materials. The current study focusses on developing 10 (09 different composition and 01 standard specimen) different composition of friction materials for fabricating the brake pads. The developed brake pads were tested for various performances. In the current work, filler (Mechanomade), lubricant (Graphite) and reinforcement fibers (Lycium ferocissimum Fiber) based brake pad composites are developed and various properties are analysed. Mechanomade (Iron-Alumnium Alloy) is used as a filler and compared with iron, aluminium and copper. Copper-free brake pads are developed by using Mechanomade (iron-aluminium alloy). The brake pads are developed using traditional manufacturing processes and considered for their physical, chemical, thermal and mechanical properties as per Industrial standards. newline
