Abstract: | Concrete is the extensively utilized material in the world by humans newlineafter water. The widespread use of concrete as a building material is due to its newlineversatile nature. River sand is conventionally used as fine aggregate, and the newlinerate of extraction is far greater than the rate of replenishment of river sand. newlineThis causes environmental imbalances and unprecedented impacts on the newlineenvironment. Waste materials that are available abundantly and locally from newlinedifferent industries can be a viable alternative for river sand. newlineLaterite soil, a marginal material, can be considered a suitable newlinesubstitute for river sand in concrete, as India has up to 706 million tonnes of newlinelaterite. However, usage of laterite in concrete as fine aggregate has not been newlineresearched and reported enough in India. newlineAn attempt to document the effect of laterite fine aggregate with newlinecrushed stone sand (crushed sand) in concrete has been made in this study. newlineThis investigation is attempted to examine the outcome of laterite sand s newlinephysical and chemical properties towards the performance of normal strength newlinegrades (M30, M45) and high strength grade (M60). First, lateritic fine newlineaggregates engineering properties using microstructural analysis were newlineattempted to ascertain the usability of laterite aggregates. Then, the mix newlineproportion of concrete for normal strength grades (M30, M45) and high newlinestrength grade (M60) was developed and tested for fresh and hardened newlineproperties of concrete. newline newline |
