Abstract: | INTRODUCTION: Chapala is chemically understood as Selenium with the chemical formula Se . On the other hand, many textbooks of Rasashastra compared Chapala as Bismuth ore. Very few research work has been carried to bring conclusion regarding Chapala. There are many literatures present in Rasashastra but very few Rasashastra texts mentioned about Chapala. Rasarnava is the first book to mention the properties and action of Chapala. Both Selenium and Bismuth are subjected for all classical and modern parameters with regards to its identification, types, availability, procurement, grahya agrahya laxanas, crystolographical, pharmaceutical and therapeutical properties. Chapala is said to be Ateevrushyam , the property is going to be assessed on the basis evaluating aphrodisiac effect in male Albino rats. The drug which can shows Aphrodisiac activity is going to be taken as Chapala. AIM AND OBJECTIVES: Identification of Chapala (Bismuth; Selenium) according to Grahya Lakshanas. Shodhana of Chapala (Bismuth; Selenium) by using Jambeera (Citrus lemon), Vandhya karkotaki (Momordica diocia), and Shrungavera (Zingiber officinallea). Marana of Chapala (Bismuth; Selenium) according to Rasarnava. Physico chemical and Instrumental analysis, Raw materials i.e. Bismuth and Selenium, Sodhita Chapala (Bismuth; Selenium), Marita Chapala (Bismuth; Selenium). Acute toxicity study according to OECD guidelines and Aphrodisiac activity in Albino Rats. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Conceptual study, Pharmaceutical study, Analytical study, and Experimental study. newlineOBSERVATIONS AND RESULTS: As compared to classical references of Chapala, the study has been conducted with bismuth and selenium. Mounting frequency, Mounting latency, Intromission frequency, Intromission latency, Serum testosterone, LH, FSH, Sperm density, Sperm mortality were conducted and the results were satisfactory as compared to standard values. CONCLUSION: Selenium shows more resemblances to Chapala as compared to Bismuth. |
