Abstract: | Obesity is a vexing problem in the developed economies. In Ayurveda, obesity is known as Medoroga, which is caused due to athiyoga of santharpanajanya ahara vihara, medo vridhi occurs and does avarana of the srothas, causing ill nourishment of uthara dhathus. Medavritavata becomes pratiloma gati, comes to the koshta and increases the agni, at this state if food is not consumed then Vayu and Agni may give rise to many serious complications. Sthula person will be counteracted by Vayu and Agni as vanagni does to the Vana. Thus increased appetite increases the intake of food causing accumulation of medodhatu. This leads to chalasphik udarasthana, alasya, swedadhikya, angagourava, kshudrashwasa, krichravyavaya etc. Studies on obesity and QoL suggest a possible interaction between these two variables in which physical, medical and cultural aspects that are related to obesity are directly reflected by scores on evaluations of QoL(Quality of life) is an important health outcome in its own right, representing the ultimate goal of all health interventions which is measured as physical, mental and social functioning. In recent years, there has been a burgeoning interest in quality of life, fueled by several factors, including a growing body of evidence concerning the potent effect of psychosocial factors on physical, functional, mental and social health outcomes and dramatic changes in the organization and delivery of health care. Obesity associated with being overweight, the difficulties and embarrassment that obese individuals often experience and cultural beliefs about beauty, functionality, productivity, and personality attributes (e.g., self-control and perseverance) can negatively interfere with the Quality of life of obese people. newlineObjectives: To assess the impact of diet and lifestyle in Obesity. Methodology: The subjects for the study will be selected from PIA Parul University, SVM Ayurvedic Medical College, and RPK Ayurvedic Hospital ILKAL Karnataka. |
