Total Sanitation Campaign is always priority of Mahatma Gandhiji and brain behind the rural sanitation program in India. Mahatma Gandhiji on 24 of May, 1925 in Navajivan Newspaper wrote The cause of many of our diseases is the condition of our lavatories and our bad habit of disposing of excreta anywhere and everywhere. I, therefore, believe in the absolute necessity of a clean place for answering the call of nature and clean articles for use at the time. I have accustomed myself to them and wish that all others should do the same. The habit has become so firm in me that even if I wished to change it I would not be able to do so. Nor do I wish to change itquot. This study was intended to to study ODF protocol as a tool to eradicate open defecation practice and evaluation of solid and liquid waste management in south eastern districts of Gujarat State i.e. Narmada and Vadodara. The study was conducted on a sample of 496 respondents from 10 blocks of Narmada and Vadodara districts. For the present study, Researcher has adopted mix methodology for exploring a wide range of information and also to justify the massive population. Researcher has adopted structured interview schedule for collecting primary data including close ended as well as open-ended questions and Researcher has adopted the Focus group discussion and observation as to collect qualitative data. The researcher has prepared list of leading questions to enable participative group discussion. The findings of the study indicate positive impact of Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin campaign and its benefits to rural people. It involves more awareness about health, safety and dignity at household level. |
