Abstract: | Sandhigata Vata, a clinical condition in which structural as well as functional disarrangement takes place in the joints. During process of pathogenesis when the vitiated Vata gets in to cervical spine movement of neck is restricted due to pain and swelling. Prevalence rate of cervical spondylosis is 10 to 20 % after third decade. It is differed significantly in urban, rural population. Chikitsa is mentioned as Vighatana of Samprapti . AcharyaCharaka believes on the two factors or causes for all types of Vatavyadhis i.e Srotorodha and DhatuKshaya so the aim of Chikitsa is to remove causative factor as well as restoration of the Doshika equilibrium. cervical is common term used for greeva Pradesh and Greevasandhigata vata can be correlated with cervical spondylosis in modern point of view also. Cervical spondylosis is known as a chronicdegenerativedisorder of the cervical spine that affects the vertebral bodies and intervertebral disks of the neck as well as the contents of the spinal canal . However, as alternative medicine techniques become more mainstream, the line between alternative and conventional has become blurred. Holistic medicine doctors (board-certified physicians who aim to treat the whole person, mind, body, and spirit) commonly recommend alternative therapies to manage chronic pain. Thermal Cautery (Agnikarma) (Intentional Heat burn Therapy) is one of the most effective para surgical procedure mentioned for the management of pain which is done with the help of shalaka (metal probe). Some of the instruments used in these procedure needs thermal management like in Thermal Cautery (Agnikarma) procedure to avoid causing extensive tissue damage, and offer suitable size in which to place heat transfer technology. These are the things throughout most of history, when there was no established concept of thermodynamics or thermostat of modern science and no thermometers to measure temperature. |
