Abstract: therapeutic value. Nature is the main source of medicinal agents for thousands of years and an newlineimpressive number of modern drugs have been derived from natural sources. The present study is newlineundertaken firstly to standardize Cyperus kyllinga Endl.(Family: Cyperacaea) roots newlinepharmacognostically which will help in the correct identification of the drug. After newlinepharrmacognostical evaluation I had foccused on to find out LD50 and to ascertain the safety of newlineethanol extracts of roots of Cyperus kyllingia by acute toxicity study (IP rout) in Swiss Albino newlinemice (20g-25g) as per guideline (OECD guidelines). The advantage of determine the LD50 at an early newlinestage in the investigation of a new drug is that the doses used to established the drugs spectrum newlineof pharmacological activity could be related to its lethal dose. So the LD50 of the ethanolic newlineextract of Cyperus kyllingia root is 251.3014 mg/kg body weight. After determining LD50 value I had newlinestudied the different Pharmacological screening like, CNS, Anticancer, Antihelmintics activity of newlinethe root extract. The experimental results conclude that ethanol extract of roots of the Cyperus newlinekyllinga plant has CNS depressant activity. But in contrast to standard drug i.e. Diazepam it was newlinefound to be less. Therefore the plant extracts may be considered as CNS depressant for further newlinestudy. Presence of flavonoids, saponins, tannins and steroids are useful in many CNS disorder. Our newlinestudy revealed the presence of flavonoids, carbohydrate, tannins, phenols, saponins in Cyperus newlinekyllinga root. This study has established the central nervous system depressant properties of newlineC.kyllinga root. The ethanolic extract of Cyperus kyllingia root possess significant anticancer newlineactivity in vivo and increased the life span of tumor bearing mice. After evaluating anthelmintic newlineactivity , it can concluded that the plant C.kyllingia exhibited significant anthelmintic activity newlinefor treating intestinal worm infections. It may be concluded that the more pharmacognostical newlinest
