Abstract: Removal of refractory sulphur compounds has become an newlineimportant and active research subject worldwide because the production and newlineuse of more environmental friendly transportation fuels have become newlinemandatory in many countries Sulphur content in diesel is decreased to about newline250300 ppm by hydrodesulphurization HDS technique in commercial units newlineusing sulphided CoMoAl2O3 catalyst with H2diesel ratio of 250 LL and newlineoperating conditions of 340 C 40 kg cm2 and WHSV 1h1 In order to meet newlinethe requirements of Euro IV specifications of less than 50 ppm of sulphur newlineHDS has to be carried out at higher H2iesel ratio as well as higher newlinetemperature pressure and residence time making the technique expensive and newlineenergy intensive newline newline
