dc.description.abstractThe construction industry plays a major role in the development of newlineIndian economy This industry consumes about 65 percent of the eleventh newlineyear plan outlay and contributes nearly 11 per cent of the GDP However newlinethe performance record in successfully implementing infrastructure projects in newlineIndia has not been very encouraging Most of the construction projects in newlineIndia are exposed to time overrun This phenomenon may affect the progress newlineof the construction industry in India as well as cause many organizations of newlineconstruction to be destroyed newlineThis study focuses on the identification and evaluation of factors newlineaffecting the time overrun in the Indian construction projects The objectives newlineof the study were achieved through two approaches the first one was a mixed newlineapproach of interviews structured questionnaire surveys and case studies and newlinethe second one was development of the time overrun model An all India newlinequestionnaire survey has been administered among three major participants in newlineGovernment public and private projects One hundred and fifty five newlinequestionnaires were administered through personal contact to public and newlineprivate organizations newlineThe survey responses were statistically analyzed The Relative newlineImportant Index RII was used to rank the significant factors causing time newlineoverrun in construction projects in India newline newlineen_US
