In the last ten years, the adoption of the Internet-connected smart devices into various sector of our society infrastructure has grown exponentially. As homes become smart homes and cities evolve into smart cities, the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) has gained the eminence. The universal connectivity of IoT technology, has opened new horizons in economic world as well as in general human well-being. The huge network of internet-connected IoT smart devices is continuously collecting information and transfer the data for further analysis in cloud, which always under threat and becomes susceptible to be exploited by an intruder. Today the world economy is data driven, which makes the security and privacy concerns are more important than before. It is authoritative that only the registered entities of the IoT will have the right to fetch and store the data and their related metadata. After proper authorization and authentication only, all the entities are allowed to do the communication. So, as a security measure the authentication technique has gained much more importance. newlineIn this thesis, we study the authentication technique, which can enhance the security aspect of IoT infrastructure. In IoT system various types of information exchange are happening. In our study, we have considered three types of communication. We designed, analysed and implemented three protocols for these communications and proved that, they are safe and secure from various attacks.
