Strategic Management In It Industry An Empirical Study In Chennai City

Abstract

Staying competitive in a challenging business environment has led to the identification and implementation of strategy as part of the business function and process. This led to the adoption of strategic management into the business function of IT industry. Indian IT industry is one of the largest exporters of IT and related services in the global scenario. Chennai is one among the major hub for IT services in India. This study aims in understanding the strategic management process practiced in the IT companies in Chennai. This study was made by the responses obtained through a structured questionnaire. The received responses were analyzed with various statistical tools such as Anova, Exploratory factor analysis, Reliability coefficient and Confirmatory factor analysis. The results revealed the extent of implementation of generic strategies in the firm. It also analyzed the impact of strategic planning and strategic management on organizational performance and also the challenges in the implementation of strategic management in the firm. This study concludes by identifying the scope for future research. newline
