dc.description.abstract | The aromatic sulphonyl haloamines are organic haloamines with a positive halogen attached to nitrogen, which furnish halonium cations with halogen in +1 oxidation state. In general N-haloamines undergo a two electron change in its reactions. The two prominent members of this class are Chloramine-T (CAT) and Chloramine-B (CAB). These are well known oxidants, halogenation agents. Chloramines are inexpensive, water tolerant, non-toxic and easy to handle, The mechanism of several substrates have been extensively investigated using these reagents by a number of researchers. Therefore, in the present investigations, the results on the kinetics of mechanism of oxidation of some industrially and pharmacologically important compounds of different category by CAT/CAB under various experimental conditions are reported and discussed. | |
