Influence of Parenting Styles Social Environment and Media Exposure on Value Patterns of Senior Secondary Students of Punjab

Abstract

The present research was undertaken to examine the Influence of Parenting Styles, newlineSocial Environment and Media Exposure on Value Patterns of Senior Secondary newlineStudents of Punjab. For the research purpose the samples of students were chosen newlinefrom the 22 districts in the Punjab state. Selection of districts was done on the basis 3 newlineregions (Doaba, Majha and Malwa). Two districts were selected on the basis of newlineconvenience from each region. Further, students were selected through stratified newlinerandom sampling technique. Hence, the final sample consisted of 1110 Senior newlineSecondary School students. From each school approximately 45 to 50 students were newlineselected randomly from XIth and XIIth classes from rural and urban Government and newlinePrivate (aided and unaided) senior secondary schools affiliated to Punjab School newlineEducation board, the population of the study. The study was conducted through a newlinedescriptive survey method of research. For the study following tools were used: newlineSocial Environment Scale and Media Exposure Scale (developed by the investigator); newlineParenting Behaviour Styles Questionnaire (2015) prepared by Dr. Deepa Sikand newlineKauts and Value Pattern Scale (2004) prepared by Dr. Sushil Kumar Singh. Data were newlineanalyzed by using different techniques of statistics. Results were discussed objective newlinewise in the light of previous research findings.
