Pharmacological investigations on sleep and sleep related disorders studies on herbal hypnotics

Abstract

Insomnia is one of the global problems due to work related stress and or work pressure on day to day basis. The present research work was conducted with an aim to elucidate the therapeutic potential of various herbal hypnotics in experimental model of sleep and sleep problem. Presently, benzodiazepine and other hypnotics are being used to manage sleep and related problem often associated with several problems such as cognitive dysfunction, hypothermia etc. Therefore, present study elucidates the mechanistic based evaluation of herbal hypnotics and their based preparations in experimental model of sleep. The present study provides evidence that these herbal hypnotics could be used to manage the sleep and related problem such as anxiety, cognitive dysfunction without having problem as associated with conventional hypnotics. newline
