Abstract: | ABSTRACT newline This study entitled and#8215;Organization of University Libraries in India: A Case study of Osmania University Library, Hyderabad is carried out to study the physical arrangement of books on the shelves in Osmania University Library. The entire study is presented in seven chapters. The first chapter is introduction dealt with the background of the study, objectives and functions of University, objectives and functions of university libraries, importance of university libraries, role of UGC in the development of university libraries, need and significance of the study, statement of the problem, and operational definitions. The second chapter is review of literature includes 100 reviews on organization of university libraries that are consulted for preparation of this study. The third chapter gives the historical account of growth and development of university libraries in India during ancient, medieval and modern period. Fourth chapter deals with the objectives, hypotheses, methodology used for the study and scope of the study. The objectives of this study are to: To examine the growth and development of university libraries in India, to study the organization of collection in Osmania University Library, to find out the collection development methods of Osmania University Library, to find out the extent of library use by the users of Osmania university library, to examine the information literacy programmes conducted by Osmania University library, to find out the availability and access to both print and electronic resources to the users of Osmania University Library, to examine the automated services provided by Osmania University Library, to trace out the job satisfaction of the library staff working in Osmania University Library, to analyse the extent of satisfaction of the users of Osmania University Library. The methodology used for the present study is a Case study method which is a popular form of qualitative analysis and involves a careful, complete, minute observation and an in-depth investigation |
