Abstract: | The thesis describes our original research work carried out while chasing the objectives of the work entitled Development of novel methods for the synthesis of fine chemicals and bio-active compounds . The thesis has seven chapters, among which two chapters describe the synthesis and characterization of two new surface functionalized materials, very first chapter is the general introduction addressing to the title and rest of the four chapters devoted for the development of greener catalytic protocols for the synthesis of fine chemicals or bioactive compounds using the developed materials as versatile catalyst candidates. Chapter wise summary of the thesis is as bellow. newlineChapter 1: It presents a brief introduction and background of the study undertaken. It mainly covered the discussion based upon: water as a reaction promoting green solvent, principles of green chemistry, solid supported catalysts and their use in improving sustainability in synthesis, magnetic nano-particles as a best support materials to heterogenized the homogeneous catalyst, brief literature review in support of these points and objectives of present study with a brief outline of the work done. newlineChapter 2: It describes synthesis of silica chemisorbed bis(hydrogensulphato)benzene (SiO2-BHSB)as a new example of heterogenized homogeneous catalyst and related literature. The next half of the chapter describes the characterization of new fabricated material SiO2-BHSB by adequate analytical techniques such as FTIR, CP-MAS 13C NMR, CP MAS 29Si NMR, SEM, EDX, TGA, DTA, CHN and volumetric analysis. newlineChapter 3: It is distributed among three sections, describing the catalytic utility of SiO2-BHSB for the synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes, biscoumarin derivatives and 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene derivatives respectively. The developments of synthetic catalytic protocols were described keeping maximum environmental protection in view. Adequate characterization of the representative synthesized compounds are presented in order to evidencify the working of t |
